The Great Wildebeest Migration - Entim Camp and Governors Main Camp
The iconic Masai Mara, Kenya – An overnight in Nairobi allows you to refresh from your long haul flight ready to start early on Day 2 to maximise your time in the Masai Mara. Spend 2 nights at an upmarket, authentic bush camp only a short drive away from where the Talek and Mara rivers converge. This is a prime river crossing location! On Day 4 enjoy a game drive transfer across the Masai Mara to your second camp. We finish off with 2 nights upmarket accommodation at the award-winning safari camp, Governors Camp.
Few lifetime experiences can beat that of watching over a million wildebeest plus hundreds of thousands of gazelles and zebra – followed by their predators – embark on a 1 000km-long circular trek through unfenced Serengeti and the Masai Mara in search of seasonal pasture and water. Blessed with outstanding concentration of animals the year round, and panoramic vistas across plains and dotted woodlands, the Masai Mara provides a wildlife experience unsurpassed. A living tapestry of grassy savannahs, spreading thorn trees, rounded hills and tall gallery forests, this feast of wildlife draws photographers and visitors from across the globe. In addition to the wildebeest and hordes of zebra which join them in their annual pilgrimage to the ever changing pastures, the Masai Mara supports lion, cheetah, elephant, kongoni, topi, Thomson's gazelle and Defassa waterbuck, as well as eight species of primate.
Situated in the heart of Kenya’s legendary Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Situated in the heart of Kenya’s legendary Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Entim is right in the middle of the very best game-viewing areas. We are only a short drive away from where the Talek and Mara rivers converge. The camp is positioned between major wildebeest crossings, which during the migration are spectacular. Our favourite spot to take you for sundowner drinks is on a hill 15 minutes drive away, where you can enjoy ice-cold drinks while viewing the panoramic 360 degree view. While many other visitors to the Mara will be staying in camps in the surrounding areas and conservancies, at Entim you don’t have to drive for hours to get to the wildlife action because you are right there in the middle of it. Nor do you have to be hurried out of the Reserve before gates close at 6.30 pm. Entim captures the essence of classic mobile tented safaris, reminiscent of safaris in the old days. Hidden in the forest, the Camp has large luxurious tents with king size beds. Ensuite bathrooms with flush toilets and colonial ‘bucket’ showers. There is a large Samburu-style lounge and dining tent.
Governors Main Camp
waters teeming with hippo and crocodile
Situated in the west of the Masai Mara, Governors’ Camp has been built along the winding banks of the Mara River, its waters teeming with hippo and crocodile. The entire camp is under canvas, keeping the authentic, traditional safari atmosphere. The 38 spacious tents all boast their own ensuite bathroom with constant hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. Gas and paraffin lamps are used for lighting. The restaurant tent, the open fire place and bar tent are in the centre of the camp. Next to the reception is a small gallery with local paintings and handcrafts as well as a small souvenir shop. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style in the open. Dinner is served in the restaurant tent. For dinner there is usually a menu with various courses. A traditional camp fire is lit at sunset each evening.
