| This stunning
country contains a kaleidoscope of landscapes, wildlife and people that is infinite
in variety. Endless stretches of grasslands are teeming with herds of game; lion
and cheetah stalk through the tall dry grass and Masai herdsman dance in the warm
hues of sunset. Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest free-standing mountain with
its snow-capped peak, rises out of the savannah plains. |

Geography
A land of plains, lakes and mountains with a narrow, low-lying coastal belt, Tanzania
is East Africa's largest country. The bulk of the country is a highland plateau,
some of it semi-desert and the rest savannah and scattered bush. The highest mountains
- Meru and Kilimanjaro - are in the north-east along the border with Kenya. The
altitude of the high plateau considerably tempers what would otherwise be a tropical
climate. In many places it can be quite cool at night. The coastal strip along
the Indian Ocean and the offshore islands of Pemba, Zanzibar and Mafia has a hot,
humid, tropical climate alleviated by sea breezes. Only on the mountain slopes
of the north-east does the country enjoy an almost temperate climate for most
of the year.

Access
There
are two points of access into Tanzania. Arusha (JRO) services
the wildlife regions of the Serengeti/Ngorongoro conservation
area, as well as Mt. Kilimanjaro. Dar es Salaam (DAR) provides
access to the eastern coastal region and the southern reserves
of Selous and Ruaha. |
Time to
Travel IThere is no time to avoid Tanzania. The long rainy season is from March to May when it rains almost every day, but the mirgation is still worth enduring this. There's also a short rainy season from November to January.

Considerations
- The road structure is poor and travelling by road is time consuming, but it is the only way to get to the Crater or Tarangire.
- There is a comprehensive network of domestic flights using scheduled and charter airlines for one way or return travel.
- You do not wish to spend your entire trip getting from one place to another and not stay long enough to enjoy each destination.
- Falcon Africa Safaris utilise the very best standards of accommodation and facilities suitable to your budget.
- Zanzibar is an ideal extension onto any safari or Kilimanjaro package.
- Kilimanjaro can be seen from Kilimanjaro Airport but be advised that it cannot be climbed in less than 5 days.
