Riverbend Country Lodge

Anchored on endless horizons and flanked by the Zuurberg Mountains, River Bend Lodge is situated within a 17 000 ha private concession area of the Addo Elephant National Park. This is Africa at its best – a perfect balance between the Eastern Cape bush and the sheer elegance of fine country life in a malaria free zone.

Watch herds of Elephants feeding a short distance away, listen to the songs of some 250 bird species, enjoy a personalized game drive into the mountains and discover varying vegetation from thick forested valleys, open savannah plains to hillsides rich in Fynbos. Game may be viewed either in the Nyati concession to which River Bend has exclusive access, or in the original areas of the Addo Elephant National Park, which River Bend guests access through a private entrance.

Eight individual suites, tastefully designed, invite you to relax and enjoy incredible tranquility and privacy - a haven, worlds away from the madding crowds of modern life. All the suites are air conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, electronic safes, mini bar, satellite TV, hair dryer and bathroom on suite with bath and shower.

Be pampered to a relaxing back massage in the privacy of your room, or sip a cocktail on your private veranda as the sun sets below the endless horizon.

Deep within the shadows of the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape lies the Addo Elephant National Park. The original Elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area - today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 420 elephants, 450 buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. Lion and spotted hyena have been reintroduced to the park and plans to expand into a 360 000 hectare "Greater Addo" park are moving forward at an exciting pace.
