Princess Bora

A small tropical paradise island, the Sainte-Marie Island is rich in history and discoveries. Preserved by its situation, the island 'at the end of the world' has kept all of its heart and all of its magic. The Princess Bora Lodge is surrounded by the sea and the lagoon. A paradise bathed by the warm water of the Indian Ocean the Sainte-Marie Island. It is here in vast cocoteraie, that Princess Bora nestles. For beach lovers there is a soft white beach in front of the hotel, or on the nearby Nattes Island and more hidden in the virgin creeks. The restaurant serves local and international dishes and the bar is stocked with South African and European wines.

The Lodge and villas are built out of natural material out of respect for the Sainte Marie tradition. There are 15 spacious Comfort and Luxury Villas. The octagonal shaped Luxury Villas include a vast wooden deck that overlooks the lagoon. They have a uniquely suspended double bed, a large living room that can accommodate 2 extra beds is accessed by a timber staircase, a large ensuite bathroom with a shower and double basin and an overhead fan. The round Comfort Villas sleep 2 people and lack the living room, but otherwise have all the amenties.

Saite-Marie Island has access to boats from which one can get close to the humpback whales, go deep sea fishing, snorkeling or SCUBA diving. But be advised, the island has retained its relaxed lifestyle and has been slow to commercialise. Explore the rich and beautiful history of the island by mountain bike: a past of kingdoms, pirates and trade. See Madagascar's oldest church or relax on the small outer islands and sand banks. On your walks you will discover fields of vanilla, cloves, cinnamon, coconuts and Travellers Palms, while snorkelers will find ancient wrecks, turtles, dolphins and coral reefs.
