The tents themselves are spacious, and cool, all with their own bathroom, hot shower, flush-type loo and very comfortable beds. A wide covered veranda facing the panoramic Mara landscape, allows guests to relax in comfortable camp chairs, read or just enjoy the birdsong and the sound of the Mara river far below at the bottom of the escarpment. Solar panels (each tent has one) provide electricity for lighting, and there is plenty of water, although currently it is camp policy to use it carefully.
With huge grazing
herds, attendant predators including Africa’s largest population of Lions, Elephant, Buffalo and bountiful birdlife, the Mara is the staging ground for the annual Wildebeest Great Migration awesome river crossings and endless processions of moving animals. The Masai Mara defies description: undoubtedly the spectacular migration of Wildebeest and Zebra searching for lush grazing following the rains, stalked by the omnipresent predators, is one of the world’s greatest wildlife marvels. But the migration is by no means the only feature this fascinating eco-system is home to enormous herds of plains game, the Big Cats and Elephant as well as colourful birds, small game, riverine wildlife and stunning scenery.
