Mara Siria

Mara Siria is a specially designed luxury tented bush camp for those travellers who want to experience a true wildlife safari off the beaten track. Mara Siria Camp reverts to the original spirit and to the true meaning of “Safari” by offering individual services and private atmosphere. The camp's location on top of the Siria Escarpment offers an absolute unique and stunning view into the plains of the Maasai Mara Triangle and at the Mara River.

Mara Siria tented camp maintains a clever balance between ‘the real camping experience’ and uncomplicated but very adequate comfort. It is reminiscent of the old hunting safari scene in which everything was there for the asking and individual tastes and special requests catered for. Away with air-conditioned tents, beauty parlours and health centres. Ten spacious luxury tents - each with en-suite bathroom and an own private veranda – are generously spread across the Siria Escarpment line to ensure guests an optimum of privacy and recreation. Mara Siria is an eco-friendly, solar powered camp which is perfectly integrated into the existing landscape without harming the beauty of the natural wilderness.

The tents themselves are spacious, and cool, all with their own bathroom, hot shower, flush-type loo and very comfortable beds. A wide covered veranda facing the panoramic Mara landscape, allows guests to relax in comfortable camp chairs, read or just enjoy the birdsong and the sound of the Mara river far below at the bottom of the escarpment. Solar panels (each tent has one) provide electricity for lighting, and there is plenty of water, although currently it is camp policy to use it carefully.

With huge grazing herds, attendant predators including Africa’s largest population of Lions, Elephant, Buffalo and bountiful birdlife, the Mara is the staging ground for the annual Wildebeest Great Migration – awesome river crossings and endless processions of moving animals. The Masai Mara defies description: undoubtedly the spectacular migration of Wildebeest and Zebra searching for lush grazing following the rains, stalked by the omnipresent predators, is one of the world’s greatest wildlife marvels. But the migration is by no means the only feature – this fascinating eco-system is home to enormous herds of plains game, the Big Cats and Elephant as well as colourful birds, small game, riverine wildlife and stunning scenery.
